Projects in the Middle East
Afghanistan
MineTech has been present in Afghanistan since 2004 working on a variety of projects for a diverse
selection of clients ranging from international construction and security
companies to NGOs. The full range of the MineTech toolbox has been deployed
in Afghanistan ranging from mechanical, manual and canine
clearance to Explosive Detection Dogs (EDD). Projects completed
and ongoing include demining and EOD clearance on infrastructure and
humanitarian projects and the provision of EDD teams for security
contractors.
Iraq
Immediately after the cessation of hostilities, MineTech's reputation for rapid response
led to a contract with the UN for mine clearance, explosive ordnance
disposal and surveys in the south of the country. Subsequently MineTech
has provided mini-flails for the UN in northern Iraq, UXO detection and
clearance of reconstruction sites north of Baghdad and armed security
teams for various clients. MineTech currently provides over 30 EDD teams
in Baghdad for numerous security contractors.
Lebanon
MineTech provided a fully integrated mine clearance solution using mechanical, mine detection dog
and manual mine clearance teams. MineTech successfully conducted a total
clearance of all minefields and random UXO along the border with Israel.
Agricultural land is now being cultivated and houses are being constructed
on previous land mine fields.
   Oman
Battlefield area clearance teams conducted Level 2 surveys and markings of UXO on a military range prior to
an oil exploration project.
Yemen
MineTech supplied Level 2 survey and clearance of seismic lines,
pipelines and construction sites for oil companies and geophysical contractors. In
addition, training and quality control was given to Yemen's military mine clearers on
behalf of oil companies.
