Angola
Mine and UXO clearance teams were provided to clear 5,000 km of roads.
Technical assessment of the threat from UXO to a dredging programme was furnished to an oil company.
Egypt
MineTech was responsible for the supervision and training of
local UXO and mine clearance contractors as part of a seismic acquisition project in the
western desert. This included an audit of military mine clearance teams
with a review of their equipment and procedures on behalf of an oil
company as well as the provision of mine detecting dogs for a trial and
evaluation programme.
   Eritrea
Underwater search teams were furnished to survey and map all UXO within
Massawa harbour for a World Bank project. This included training of local divers
in underwater search techniques.
Libya
MineTech has completed several projects in Libya including Battle Area Clearance (BAC) in
advance of seismic acquisition, mine and UXO clearance, training local
spotters, and UXO risk awareness training. MineTech is currently
conducting UXO detection and clearance for an oil operator.
Morocco
Underwater surveys were carried out to search for ammunition dumped during World War 2, which had migrated into a harbour
earmarked for reconstruction activities.
Mozambique
A Level 2 survey and clearance was undertaken in preparation of an 1800 km powerline
servitude project for the Cahora Bassa programme. Mechanically assisted mine clearance with
integrated mine detecting dogs and manual teams were used throughout Manica Province.
Niger
MineTech acted as a consultant on behalf of the World Bank to evaluate
the requirement for a weapons recovery and removal programme.
Sierra Leone
Technical experts were supplied as part of a World Bank financed project to assist
local forces in developing a programme to recover and make safe weapons and ammunition
following the end of civil war hosilities.
Somalia
A number of Level 1 and 2 surveys were carried out on behalf of aid agencies
to facilitate the movement of personnel and equipment into villages.
Mine Risk Education programmes were used in high risk areas.
Sudan
MineTech provided Mine Detection Dog (MDD) teams for an NGO conducting humanitarian
demining in southern Sudan. One of the key roles was to clear unpaved transport
routes to help facilitate the work of aid agencies and to facilitate the return
of internally displaced people and refugees.
Zambia
MineTech implemented Mine risk education for NGO staff living
and working in mine affected areas.
Zimbabwe
Level 1 and 2 survey carried out of section 5 Border Minefield for Trans-Frontier conservation project. Clearance
of a number of roads and powerlines routes was completed along the border.
