Mine Clearance Projects
Afghanistan
MineTech has been present in Afghanistan since 2004 working on a variety of projects for a diverse
selection of clients ranging from international construction and security
companies to NGOs. The full range of the MineTech toolbox has been deployed
in Afghanistan ranging from mechanical, manual and canine
clearance to Explosive Detection Dogs (EDD). Projects completed
and ongoing include demining and EOD clearance on infrastructure and
humanitarian projects and the provision of EDD teams for security
contractors.
Azerbajan
Mine detecting dog teams were used to enhance the capability of the local mine action authority.
Bosnia & Herzegovina
Mine detecting dog teams were used together with manual mine/UXO clearance teams for a World Bank funded
project. Training of local demining teams was undertaken, followed by
technical supervision of manual clearance.
   Cambodia
Technical evaluation assessment of an international
donor funded mine clearance project was provided to enhance local capability.
Croatia
MineTech's manual clearance teams supported UN/CROMAC managed demining programme in addition to
the provision of mine/UXO Level 2 survey in advance of seismic acquisition.
Eritrea
Mine detection dog teams were used under a trial and evaluation programme
together with field testing of ground penetrating radar using the MineTech adopted
mine detection vehicles as the platform.
Iraq
MineTech's reputation for rapid response led to a contract in
Iraq shortly after the end of hosilities for the provision of mine clearance, explosive ordnance disposal
and surveys in the south of the country.
Kosovo
Mine detecting dog and manual teams were used as part of an emergency mine action programme
immediately after the end of hostilities as part of a UN managed clearance
programme.
Lebanon
MineTech provided a fully integrated mine clearance solution using
mechanical, Mine Detection Dog and manual clearance teams. MineTech successfully conducted a total
clearance of all minefields and random UXO along the border with Israel. Agricultural land
is now being cultivated and houses are being constructed on what were previously land mine fields.
Macedonia
MineTech supplied Mine Detection Dogs and manual teams
to search for and clear mines and UXO near the border with Kosovo.
Mozambique
A Level 2 survey and clearance was undertaken in preparation of an 1800km powerline servitude project
for the Cahora Bassa programme. Mechanically assisted mine clearance with
integrated mine detecting dogs and manual teams were used throughout Manica
Province.
Further surveys and clearance took place on a number of roads and machines were used in advance of seismic acquisition in the Temane Block. Flails
were also used to prepare the ground in advance of mine clearance activities.
Nicaragua
MineTech rapidly deployed manual and mine detecting dog teams to search for and clear mines and UXO following
the devastation caused by Hurricane Mitch.
Niger
MineTech acted as a consultancy on behalf of the World Bank to evaluate the requirement for a weapons
recovery and removal programme.
Somalia
A number of Level 1 and 2 surveys were carried out on behalf of aid agencies to
facilitate the movement of personnel and equipment into villages.
Mine detecting dog, survey and clearance teams were brought in to support
non-governmental organisations.
Sri Lanka
Level 2 surveys and clearance using mine detecting dogs and manual teams were
carried out throughout the Jaffna peninsular.
Sudan
A level 2 survey and clearance of a road in southern Sudan was undertaken prior to the movement
of heavy equipment for an oil drilling project.
United Kingdom
Level 2 survey and clearance of ranges in Wales and the south coast of England
was undertaken in advance of surveys.
Venezuela
Level 2 survey and clearance was carried out for both air and ground delivered UXO from a military range
prior to a seismic acquisition project.
Yemen MineTech supplied Level 2 survey and clearance of seismic lines, pipelines and construction sites for oil
companies and geophysical contractors. In addition, training and quality
control was given to Yemen's military mine clearers on behalf of oil companies.
Zimbabwe Level 1 and 2 survey carried out of section 5 Border Minefield for Trans-Frontier conservation project. Clearance
of a number of roads and powerline routes was completed along the border.
