Safety
Exposure to varying situations on a daily
basis means a wide range of experience is gained
within each team. Informed decisions made on the
ground ensure the safest course of action is always
followed. All members of the team are responsible
for safety and personnel are rotated on a regular
basis to ensure optimum performance.
  
A key factor in the safety of manual deminers is
the use of extremely effective personnel protection
equipment (PPE). All team members are required to
wear the PPE gear, even in extreme temperatures of
40°C plus. The PPE consists of a lightweight
apron and visor, which MineTech was instrumental in
developing. Rubber knee and leather elbow pads are
also used in certain terrain.
All members of the team are responsible for
the upkeep of their PPE and demining
tools.
