Manual Mine Clearance
MineTech International has an experienced mine
clearance team of over 400 deminers who have been
deployed worldwide to areas such as Angola, Bosnia and
Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Somaliland, Mozambique,
Lebanon, Afghanistan and Iraq.
   Manual mine clearance procedures involve
locating, identifying and neutralising mines. Many mine
clearance tasks are not straightforward and
difficulties can arise throughout the entire demining
process. For instance, deminers can have problems
trying to find intricate landmine fuses or locating
landmines with low metal content. These difficulties
are overcome by providing mine clearance staff with
clear guidelines and training to enable them to prevail
over any obstacles they may encounter.
Confidence in the overall process for deminers,
local people and organisations donating resources to
the mine clearance effort is primarily based on
adherence to technical and safety standards. MineTech
personnel are engaged in dangerous work, often in
extremely harsh and difficult circumstances. Safety and
discipline are therefore of paramount
importance.
Employing a permanent team ensures that MineTech
can deploy to any location in the world within a matter
of days and begin work immediately.
