Safety

Normal safety procedures used in landmine clearance are also implemented at all BAC task sites. Section Leaders establish a Control Point and Medical Aid Post and an ambulance is present on all operations. If disposal teams come across any hint of mines or trip-wires all operations immediately cease.

Operations involved in using more than one BAC team are required to use a safety distance of 50 metres between teams at all times. Each team is required to have regular breaks and work periods are decided in accordance with weather conditions and terrain. All searching is conducted in silence.

All BAC personnel involved in clearance tasks are required to wear full Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). This would include a minimum of a blast protection vest or apron and a full-face protection visor.
